The Sprinter Light Train (SLT) was designed to become the workhorse of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), entering service in 2009. It has fast acceleration and effective brakes - ideal for short-hop stop-train work. The SLT improves on the top speed of the previous generation SGM Sprinter - up to 160km/h is possible, although normal service speed is 140km/h.
